Whitney and Angela here blogging from KU country. I, Angela, am visiting Whitney this week and I was warned before my arrival about this was a Jay hawk obsessed place. I genuinely didn’t believe that the people here could be so in love with their school. I had to see it to believe it!

Today we are going to let you in on what we have been up to for the last few days. First let me, Whitney, give you a little background on my situation. My husband is in his first year of law school at the University of Kansas. We moved to Kansas a few months back and didn’t spend much time looking for places to live. In fact, we just took the first place we found. It’s cute and it works for now, but we are going to need some more space if we are going to make it through the next couple of years. So Angela is out here this week helping me do a little house hunting.

I love to cook so to me the kitchen is one of the most important rooms in the home. If I had my dream Kitchen, this would be it…

This is from Leann Rimes 7 million dollar home. I think this may always be my dream kitchen even after my husband has graduated and has a job. Realistically and without getting too specific a dream kitchen for me would be something that is new and clean. Those would be my major must haves.

Angela has helped me do some house hunting this week and we thought we would share with you some of the kitchens that we have been able to see. Now are these my dream kitchens? No. My husband is a student so most of our funds are tied up in getting him his education. One of these will be great for the next couple of years. Plus, I am impressed with how much kitchen I can get for my money. Let me introduce to a few of the top contenders. I would love your opinion.

Whitney’s Favorites

Kitchen # 1

This is my favorite. I love the stainless steel appliances. I love that there is a ton of storage. Plus, it looks out on to the backyard. I can see my daughter playing while I cook dinner.

Kitchen # 2

This is my second favorite. I love how open and roomy it is.

Angela’s Favorites

Kitchen # 3

I love this Kitchen! If I were moving to Kansas this is where I would live. I love the white cabinets and the stainless steel appliances. I love how light and bright it is. Unfortunately Whitney did not agree with me. This is an older home that had been fixed up. Whitney is looking for something that is newer.

Kitchen #4

This was my second favorite. This Kitchen is huge! And really unique. I’m a fan of homes that are different. Plus this house was right on a golf course which I thought was cool for Whitney since she likes to golf. Whitney and I obviously have different tastes, because this was her least favorite out of all of them. I wonder how we ended up with such different tastes growing up in the same home.

Which is your favorite?

Stayed tuned next week to see what Kitchen Whitney actually choose!

  1. #3! It's the closest to the "perfect kitchen" :) It looks like it has wood flooring, which is much easier on the feet and back than ceramic.

#1 seems to be the most unnatural for doing actual kitchen work. Is that the door to the garage? If so, that, plus the opening into the kitchen being situated right smack in between the sink and stove/fridge gives the kitchen too much opportunity to become a high thru-traffic area. Not ideal for cooking.

  2. I have to say I must have the same taste as Angela cuz I like those ones. But since this is for Whitney, I like #2. The appeal mostly is that there is more room to do chopping, etc. right by the stove. It's always fun to anticipate making a new space (especially a kitchen) yours. Good luck and happy hunting!

  3. I like a window above my sink, so #2 and #4 would be out for me. Even though #1 looks bigger with more storage, #3 is my favorite. I love the colors!

    GOOD LUCK!
