Paper Bag Wreath

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

Baby step number two towards having a decorated bedroom… a wreath for my mirror. When I originally purchased the mirror that sits a top our dresser I thought that I would use it all the time. We have a small bathroom and I thought that there wouldn’t be enough room for me to get ready in it so I purchased this mirror to give myself a place to do all the hair and make up stuff. Well I was mistaken about never using my bathroom. I use it all the time. The mirror in our bedroom has become more of a decorative piece. I thought it would be a perfect place to hang my new wreath.

It was easy to create, but the process did get a little tedious. The total time it took to create this was about an hour so not too long, and I love the end result so it was worth it.

Materials needed:

  • Wreath (actually the one pictured isn’t the one that I used. My wreath laid flat and wasn’t rounded like the green Styrofoam one.)
  • Scissors
  • Paper lunch sacks (I used about 10 bags.)
  • Glue gun
  • A flower stencil and a pencil

First, you want to cut out all of your flowers. Actually I just used my cricut to cut out the flowers, but if you don’t own a criciut or silhouette you can trace a flower stencil and then cut the flowers by hand.

Then pinch the bottom of the flowers together.

Next put a dab of hot glue on the back of the flower.

Then stick the flower to the wreath.

The steps are easy, you just have to repeat them quite a few times until the entire wreath is covered in flowers. And to finish mine off I added a little paper bird.

I love my paper bag wreath!

  1. This is awesome! I've been looking at making a ribbon wreath (tying/knotting several different types of ribbon), but the cost of the ribbon was going to be fairly pricey. I never thought to use paper - I love it.
