I’ve got an entire new house to decorate just for the everyday. I don’t think I’m going to have time to decorate for the Holidays this year. So instead of sharing a new project with you, I thought I would take us down memory lane to take a look at some of my St. Patrick's day décor from years past.

Ombre and Rainbow St. Patty’s Day Printables

I decided that I needed some ombre art to match my ombre garland. I quickly made up a simple printable to add to my last minute St. Patty’s day décor.

I printed out the one below. It goes perfectly with my garland. (If I get a chance today, I will take a photo of it for you. I at least wanted to get the printable shared incase anyone is looking for last minute St. Patty’s day decor.)

Ombre St. Patrick's Day Garland

I have a little last minute St. Patrick's day project to share with you. I wasn’t planning to decorate for St. Patrick’s Day. The last two days I have been sitting on the couch next to a sick little boy. I wasn’t allowed to leave his side except to get him more juice. I think I have seen Toy Story at least 20 times over the last two days. As much as I love my son, a woman can only watch toys come to life so many times. So on one of my juice runs, I checked out my felt stash. I found four different shades of green and a cream that I thought would be cute for a some St. Patrick's day décor. I set out to make an ombre garland. The perfect project for those sitting on the couch days.

I used this as the stencil to help cut out my shamrocks.

I cut out 8 of each color. I cut 40 shamrocks. I would have loved to run over to my sewing machine to sew this together quickly. Since I wasn’t allowed to leave the couch. I just used embroidery thread to connect all of the shamrocks. It didn’t take as long as I thought it would.

This project may be coming a little late this year. I will definitely be keeping it for next year too!

St. Patrick's Day Scavenger Hunt

Finally, a new printable! This time we are offering a St. Patrick's day scavenger hunt.

 

 

 

I imagine my son waking up on St. Patrick’s day to find little leprechaun footprints starting at his bed and leading to his bedroom door where he finds the introduction to the scavenger hunt(the cloud) and his first clue(the red arch of the rainbow). The idea is that a leprechaun has scattered a rainbow throughout the house. My son will have to follow the clues to find all of the missing pieces of the rainbow. Then he will have to put the rainbow back together to find where the leprechaun left his treasure or his pot of gold.

 

Here is what the scavenger hunt will look like:

 

The Introduction: A sneaky leprechaun snuck into this house. He scattered a rainbow, as quite as a mouse. Let’s piece the rainbow back together, and follow his clues till we find a treasure.

 

Clue #1: Rainbows always start with red, but what Color always follows? Keep your eyes “peeled” for the color of a yummy fruit. (Fridge)

 

 

Clue #2: You have found orange, but time to move on. Now go to the pLace where the bright sun wakes you at dawn. (Bedroom window)

 

 

Clue #3: You now have yellow, but let’s keep going. Next lOok for the color of the lawn that may need mowing. (Backyard)

 

 

 

Clue #4: With green in hand, you are getting so close to the treasure, you hope. The color you must Search for now can be found in a place that holds bubbles and soap. (Bathtub)

 

 

Clue #5: Now that you have blue, it is time to look for your next clue. Look in the place wherE you keep your feet. *Hint: Rhymes with blue.(In their shoe)

 

 

Clue #6: Put the rainbow back together. What do all of the underlined letTers spell? That is where you will find your treasure. (Closet)

 

 

Once the rainbow is put back together, the underlined letters will spell out the word CLOSET. The closet will be where the treasure can be found.

 

 

The printable I am offering comes with the introduction cloud, the set of rainbow clues, a set of six pairs of leprechaun feet that can be printed multiple times so you can leave little leprechaun feet throughout the house or by each clue. There are also two black pots that once cut out can be stapled together and filled with treasure.

Easy St. Patty’s Day Decor

I have to be honest here, I really don’t know a whole lot about St. Patrick's day. To me March 17 is just that one day a year you wear green so that you don’t get pinched. Growing up this wasn’t a holiday that my family focused on. My brothers birthday is March 16 and my birthday is March 18 so March 17 was just a day for my mother to recuperate between birthday celebrations.

This is actually the first year I have ever had acknowledged St. Patrick's Day with some home decor. It wasn’t by choice. It is actually kind of funny how this all came about. I was at Joann's the other week buying some fabric. I was in line to check out. After being in line for no longer than 30 seconds I looked down to find that my son had grabbed a package of glittery shamrock foam stickers from the dollar bins, he had torn the package open and was now sucking on the cardboard. (This happened just after I had circled the store 3 times looking for my sons socks and shoes which he had taken off without my knowledge. I was able to find both shoes but only one sock. I win mother of the year award that day.) Luckily the stickers were only a $1.00. I figured purchasing them was easier than trying to explain the situation.

I got home that day wondering what to do with these shamrock stickers… I finally came to the conclusion that a little holiday cheer wouldn’t hurt. I ended up creating a fun and easy…

St. Patrick’s Day Banner

I created this in 3 simple steps:

	Step 1. I started with a scrap piece of burlap that I had. I cut it into four triangles. I cut one triangle. Then I used that triangle as a template to cut out the rest.
	Step 2. Then I hot glued the burlap triangles to a piece of twine.
	Step 3. Once the glue was dry I stuck on my shamrock foam stickers.

 

Like I said… EASY! Now we have a reminder that there is something else to celebrate this month besides a few birthdays :)
