This week I finally had the chance to take a stab at making some overdue Easter baskets that my husband and I can use in the years to come. Crafting is not my thing, so making the baskets was a real stretch for me!
I decided to make two different kinds of baskets. One is similar to what my mom made for us kids about 20 years ago. Another one that I thought was cute that I found on a crafting blog.
Basket #1 (the one I found on the crafting blog):
My work in progress:
I got a little bit of help from Angie on this one... I kept getting distracted by The Amazing Race (I love that show).
Here is the final product! We decided to use buttons for eyes and use pink-colored felt for the nose:
The mouth still needs to be added on, but I am very happy with the outcome so far.
Here is the back of the basket:
I wanted to add some kind of "boy" aspect to the basket because it is going to be for my husband Matt. He LOVES basketball so I thought somehow getting a basketball, or colors of a basketball, on the basket would be very fitting. We decided to add it to the tail! I love how it turned out!
Basket #2 (My Mothers Inspiration):
These are the baskets my mom made for us when we were kids. I have loved them and it would not be Easter without them, so I needed to make one of my own.
Now here is where my own version comes in — it is a work in progress, and I hope to have it done by next week. We were very thrifty and got all the yarn for a dollar apiece when they were original $4 each. Whitney helped me out on that! I love the colors and can't wait to see how the whole thing turns out. I didn't realize how long it would take me to do each piece of the face.
I have enjoyed my week of crafting! It has been a stretch from anything that I am used to doing, but with help from my wonderful sisters I was able to pull it off! I will probably stick with exercise posts from now on ;)
Can't wait for Easter next year!
